Captiva is a tropical island located about four miles off the coast of Ft. Myers, Florida and just off the northern tip of Sanibel Island. Children's cribs, playpens and jogging strollers can be delivered by Island Rentals. Captiva has two convenience stores in the village for quick purchases.
Captiva is very popular all year long, with only a few weeks in the fall that can be considered “off season”, and there are a limited number of rental houses available. Captiva is usually booked heavier than Sanibel, as Sanibel houses rent only monthly, while Captiva house rentals are weekly on a Saturday arrival schedule. We urge you to reserve your vacation rental home as early as possible.

We’re glad to report our beaches in South West Florida are absolutely pristine and unaffected by the oil hundreds of miles to our northwest. 
All forecasters and officials feel the Southwest Florida Gulf Coast beaches from Tampa all the way to Bonita, Naples and Marco Island will be protected by the Gulf loop current. Should any oil start to flow southward, the current will take control and is expected keep any oil 150 miles or more west of Captiva and Sanibel beaches in SW Florida.
